VU0542270 is a potent and highly selective inhibitor of vascular Kir6.1/SUR2B (vascular KATP) channels (IC50 ~ 100 nM) that show no apparent activity toward Kir6.2/SUR1 and other members of the Kir channel family. It appears that VU0542270 binds to SUR2. It has a rather short in vivo half-life (t1/2 = 0.64 hour).
