超氧化物歧化酶（SOD）是一种抗氧化酶，参与活性氧（ROS）的防御系统。SOD 催化超氧自由基阴离子（O2-）歧化为过氧化氢，然后通过谷胱甘肽过氧化物酶和过氧化氢酶将其催化成无毒的 O2 和 H2O。已经鉴定出了几种 SOD。这些包括细胞内铜、锌超氧化物歧化酶（Cu、Zn SOD/SOD1），线粒体锰超氧化物歧化酶（Mn SOD/SOD2）和细胞外铜、锌超氧化物歧化酶（EC SOD/SOD3）。含 80 kDa 四聚体酶 SOD2 的锰位于线粒体基质中，紧邻主要的内源超氧化物源（线粒体呼吸链）。
